For almost two decades, BOTOX® has been approved to treat a variety of conditions in patients. It is an injection that can only be prescribed. There is no over-the-counter version of BOTOX® available for the general public. BOTOX® has been proven to be very useful in treating wrinkles and facial lines in patients. The FDA has approved it to help reverse the signs of aging like frown lines and crow’s feet. It can also be used to treat people suffering from excessive underarm sweating, also known as axillary hyperhidrosis.

Wrinkles and lines can form on your face in several ways. One of those ways is when the muscles in your face do not relax and remain contracted. This is common in older patients who have spent years smiling and laughing. BOTOX® treats this by relaxing and releasing those muscles and in turn, causing lines and wrinkles to fade. As a result of these now relaxed muscles, your youthful appearance will return!

Our highly-experienced staff will administer your treatment at an injection site identified during your consultation. A small amount of BOTOX® will be injected to relax the targeted muscles. Most patients do not feel anything during the treatment session or only experience minor discomfort. It is important to remember that BOTOX® does not numb an area, but relaxes the muscles. A typical treatment session takes a few minutes to complete a BOTOX® treatment. While results can take up to two weeks to appear, most of our patients report seeing a difference within three to seven days.

You will be in and out quickly at our facility! BOTOX® usually only consists of a few small injections. You can rely on our experience to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment. No anesthesia is needed for this procedure, however, if discomfort is a concern, please let us know during your consultation. We can use some numbing cream or ice to reduce the sensation during your treatment. Some patients do report some temporary side effects such as tenderness, redness, or swelling. If they do appear, they should subside after a few days. Patients should also avoid laying down for several hours after treatment or putting pressure on the treatment area. This can cause BOTOX® to shift and affect muscles that were not meant to be targeted.

We have seen great results using BOTOX® to treat wrinkles and lines along the neck, chin, nose, eyes, mouth, and forehead. It is also used to treat excessive sweating.

How long your treatment lasts depends on a variety of factors including the areas treated, the amount of BOTOX® used, and your body’s metabolism. However, we generally see results last four to six months. When wrinkles do return, we often see that they were less pronounced than they were before. To maintain your results, a visit to Assure Wellness Group two to three times a year is recommended.

A BOTOX® session is not recommended for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to albumin, or have a neurological disease. Please be sure to tell your provider during your consultation if any of these conditions apply to you.
